AUG 17TH 2024 - CHILLI & KARAOKE EVENING
When the suggestion of a karaoke evening was received in an email from Graham, the very non-techy social committee, initially thought “how on earth can we?
But with the help of Graham’s delightful grandson Jake, who has all the gear and the tech knowledge, and was willing to come and run it for us, we had ourselves a fun evening ahead.
We had no idea how it would be received by club members but the key message was that we would not be applying any pressure to take the mic.
It turns out we have several great singers within our club and the requests came pouring in to Jake! Even those who had sworn not to sing were tempted by the several group numbers where several people shared 4 mics. The women sang the girlie numbers en masse - “It’s raining men”, “Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight” and “Man I Feel like a woman” - with relish! The men took the mic for “Ring of Fire”, New York, New York” and “My Way”! Everyone on the floor was joining in.
Preceded by a chilli supper, organised by the social committee, the evening turned out to exceed our expectations as everyone had a ball.
