RESULT: LOST 73 -42

Witterings took four rinks to Selsey to play near neighbours Crablands Bowls Club in a friendly match.

The conditions were blustery but apart from one downpour near to the start, the weather held fair and the sun even shone at times.

The Greens played very heavy and proved difficult to read with both the home and away teams often struggling, however Wittering clearly struggled the most as they ended up the losing team.

Fred Knotts, David Shaw, Doug Holden and Bryan Smethurst (s) unfortunately failed to score on the first 5 ends. Scoring remained difficult and they lost heavily.  Lost 26 -4

Paul Chivers, Dave Buckton, Colin Carter and Gwilym Morgan (s) fared a lot better and had a much closer match. Scores were all tied after 16 ends but unfortunately they lost the last two ends. Lost  13 -10

Kevan Paige, Dave Bell, Eric Shoyer and Ken Clark (s) had a similar experience to that of team 1, this time failing to score until the 9th end after which a comeback was made but unfortunately it was not enough and they  Lost 22 -12

Tom O’Donnell, Derek Sparks, Ian Harper and Gordon Silva had a much closer game than the

other 3 teams. The lead changed throughout the afternoon, was tied after 14 ends but Witterings won 3 of the last 4 ends to  Win 12 -16
