Witterings Bowls Club was honoured to host the Dennyside Bowling Association for a 5 rink match which was played in a very friendly atmosphere and fortunately the rain held off.  The main objective of the Association is to help and encourage bowls clubs to raise funds for their nominated charities.  Their members come from many parts of England across a region stretching from Lincolnshire to Bristol and players in this match had come from Bath, Coventry and Suffolk to name just a few.

 During the afternoon, a total of £1470 was raised for the Witterings current charity, the Donald Wilson Stroke Rehabilitation Centre at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.  This was achieved from a spider before the match, a competition around the actual result, donations from Dennyside Bowling Association, as well as personal donations from Dennyside and Witterings players and a large raffle.

 The final result of this Charity match was a win for Dennyside by 25 shots. Dennyside 99 – Witterings 74.

 To end this occasion a hearty meal was served to players and guests by the ladies of the Witterings Bowls Club, sustenance for the long journeys home.
