MAY 14th 2023 - WITTERING'S CORONATION CELEBRATION

With Coronation Day celebrations over 40 members arrived at the Witterings Bowls Club for a  Sunday afternoon two hour friendly roll up.

The skies were brightening after the continual rain of the previous day, the green was probably  in a better condition than some of the players but enthusiasm and bruise mats overcame any problems and enjoyable matches were had by all.

Bowling over, everyone adjourned to the pavilion which was decked overall in red, white and blue with tables laid for a sumptuous afternoon tea.

The best Coronation Cake competition was won by Zoe Silva with an elaborately decorated Brownie confection. Great to look at and even better to eat – a very worthy winner.

The cakes were cut and added to the already groaning tables.

Before the meal President Fred Knotts welcomed everyone and thanked those who had prepared for this event then Adrian Martin led the singing of the National Anthem.

A 'Right Royal’ competition and fun game were held which brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.

Occasions like this owe a great deal to members who give their time so willingly for the benefit of the club.  Debbie and Adrian Martin did all the food preparations with their band of helpers Val and Stuart Hooker, Phil and Tina Hand, Dave Baker, Lynne Sears and Margaret Bowell, a splendid team.
