NOVEMBER 7th. 2015 PRESIDENT FRANK BRAY

posted 8 Nov 2015, 03:07 by Jen Knotts   [ updated 9 Nov 2015, 01:58 ]

It is with great sadness that The Witterings and District bowls club have learned of the death of their President Frank Bray.  Frank became President in 2010, was well known throughout the county and an active and popular member of the club.   In spite of being unwell at times during the past few months he has attended the Club in order to fulfil his role as President, a mark of his dedication to the members and club he so strongly supported.
Our thoughts are with Diane and all of his family.

Portugal 2015

posted 25 Oct 2015, 09:49 by Jen Knotts   [ updated 25 Oct 2015, 09:49 ]

Some 23 members and partners attended this tour to Portugal following up on last years successful tour to the Costa del Sol.  We were scheduled to play four games but unfortunately lost one to rain. The other three were played in bright sunshine with temperatures in the mid 20’s. We had more success this year, winning against Valverde, a near miss at Alvor and a loss on carpet to Floreste. All members expressed their enthusiasm for the trip and many were already saying they want to go again next. Rumour has it that the Ladies Captain together with her new equipment might beat me in the pool next time!

On a perfect August morning ten invited teams from the surrounding area arrived at the Witterings Bowls Club to take part in
this competition organised by Vice Captain Tony Nixon.

Three games of 8 ends each followed, with the Chichester team of M. Anderson, C. Keedwell,D. Leach, and M. Bonner (s) taking first prize,
Witterings came second and Tarring Priory third.
